Vending in Western Australia
Vending in Australia has lagged behind countries such as Japan and the United States by a decade. However we are rapidly catching up with Australians now appreciating the convenience of having access to a wide range of products 24/7 that vending machines can provide.
There is enormous potential for operators in Western Australia.
What Type of Machine do I need?
There are four main groups of vending machines:
- Drink
- Snack
- Combo
- Coffee
Prior to selecting a machine which best suits your requirements, it is essential to have an understanding of the differences between the machines.
Apart from coffee machines (which vary from paid venders to free dispensing benchtop models) the most common requirements are to vend drinks or snacks. Note that in the WA climate it is essential to have a drink or snack machine refrigerated. Ambient machines may appear suitable for an air conditioned office, however chocolates are far nicer cold and product may melt over a long weekend or the Christmas holidays.
Beware
There are many styles and makes of machines on the market, available through franchise arrangements, in the local paper or on the net. As with most ventures be it one machine or many, it is essential:
- to do a due diligence on the business or machines.
- to be assured that the business or franchise is a sound proposition.
- to be sure that any machines are quality and that parts and service are readily available.
